Fantastic achievement for students at Havering Sixth Form College

I am delighted with the A Level pass rate of 98.5% this year. This is, incredibly, a further improvement on last year. Fifty five students have achieved at least three A grades, with nineteen of these achieving four A grades and four students achieving an amazing 5 grade As. The A & B pass rate increased to 43%.

This achievement is against a backdrop of an exceptionally high rate of students staying on their courses. The College’s A Level ‘retention (staying on) rate’ in 2008-9 was 98%. This means that over 96% of students who embark on an A Level programme achieve their qualification. This figure is an amazing 2% above the average for Sixth Form Colleges and 4% above the average for all schools/colleges offering A Levels.

These results are due to hard work, a love of learning and genuine commitment from young people, teachers and support staff in the College.

It is very encouraging that the fantastic learning that has taken place in College this year has been rewarded by such excellent results.

Havering Sixth Form College has a very broad curriculum and welcomes students of all abilities. To see so many students achieving such good results on a variety of learning programmes is truly inspiring.

International Baccalaureate

Official IB provider for Havering.

The IB Diploma offers a well balanced education - something which universities and employers value alike. The IB Diploma is made up of six subjects together with a core made up of three separate parts. Students select 6 subjects, one from each of groups 1 to 5 then a 6th called an elective. Three subjects are studied at higher level, and the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level.
